Wine:

Born from the unique schist soils of the Douro, the 2017 LBV Red Porto is a quintessential example of traditional port, aged one year in concrete vats followed by two years in 500-liter barrels, as is customary. This port strikes a balance between power and delicacy, with a fruit-forward style. It unfolds a rich tapestry of flavors, featuring woodland berry, plum, blackberry, and a hint of spice. The robust structure is complemented by refreshing acidity, achieving a precise balance. It's a perfect dining companion, pairing splendidly with dishes like duck breast, and of course, chocolate.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested in 20kg crates. Traditional Lagar vinification, grapes crushed in concrete tanks with 15% whole bunches. Aged for one year in concrete vats, then two years in traditional Port casks (500L).

Color:

Deep ruby red with purple highlights.

Nose:

Subtle aromas of wild berries, plums and blackberries underlined by spicy notes.

Palate:

Round and full-bodied, this cuvée is marked by a fine tannic structure and precise acidity that balances the spicy flavors of this gourmet Port.

Temperature:

Serve between 13 and 15°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Tapas of grilled peppers, duck breast with black berries on mashed potatoes, chocolate fondant with red fruit coulis.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035
