Wine:
A benchmark of perfection with a 100/100 score from Parker, the 2021 Pingus Red from Ribera del Duero is once again a wine in a class of its own—on par with the legendary 1996, 2016, and 2018 vintages, and perhaps even surpassing them in texture, according to Peter Sisseck himself. Sourced from two tiny plots in the village of La Horra, planted in 1929 with old Tempranillo vines and a few native varieties, Pingus is crafted only from the finest fruit selected from this micro-terroir. The production is ruthlessly selective, yields are incredibly low, and the wine is now aged in large 20-hectoliter oak vats, followed by barrel aging with no new wood—further enhancing its mythical status. This 2021 vintage has everything turned up: depth, concentration, polished tannins, along with stunning youth, balance, and electrifying energy. A truly historic bottle in the making.Vinification:
Hand harvested. Old vines over 80 years old with very low yields. Vinification based on a non-interventionist approach. Pre-fermentation maceration in 2.5 hl tuns. Aged for 20 months in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels.Color:
An intense red with purple edges.Nose:
The aromatic complexity of this wine is remarkable, with aromas of red fruit and lightly roasted accents.Palate:
A velvety palate through this rich, powerful and full-bodied structure, a wine of delicate texture and extreme refinement.

Serve between 14 and 16°C.Food and wine pairing:
Grilled or simmered red meats in sauce, small game, cheese platter.Cellar aging:
From now until 2044
A brilliant oenologist, Peter Sisseck—nicknamed “Pingus”—has revolutionized the Spanish wine scene. In the heart of Ribera del Duero, he founded Dominio de Pingus in the 1990s, recognizing the untapped potential of ancient Tempranillo vines.
Working with near-century-old vineyards, farmed organically and biodynamically, he relies on native yeast fermentation and ages his wines in large oak casks—an approach that brings out the full character of the region’s prized soils and native grapes. Every detail contributes to the singular identity of this iconic wine, now regarded as a benchmark in its own right.
Widely considered one of the greatest wines in the world, Pingus has earned multiple 100-point scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate—including for the 2021 vintage we’re proud to present. Peter Sisseck’s vision has not only defined a legend but has also led a sweeping renaissance across the Iberian Peninsula.
