AWARDS

A wine rated 93-95/100 by our Committee!

Wine:

Crafted from very old vines ranging from 70 to 85 years old, the 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Bargeton red impresses with its captivating aromas of stone fruits, sugar-coated strawberries, stewed Morello cherries, hints of cocoa – a very characteristic 2020 style, ripe and generous. The palate is fleshy, with velvety and supple tannins, already charming with its maturity and expansiveness. It has been judiciously aged, making it suitable for immediate enjoyment at our tables today or for aging in the cellar for six to ten years or even longer. A remarkable achievement that places the dominant focus on the Grenache grape. Rated 93-95/100 by our Committee!

Vinification:

Hand harvested, 100% whole grapes. Maceration for approximately 20 days. Aged 90% in concrete vats and 10% in Burgundy barrels.

Color:

Dark, brilliant red.

Nose:

Bewitching aromas of pit fruits, strawberries with sugar, compote of Morello cherry, underlined by notes of cocoa, a ripe, generous profile.

Palate:

Full-bodied on the palate, with velvety, supple tannins, this wine is already seductive in its maturity and amplitude. Its restrained ageing means it can be enjoyed now.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Seven-hour lamb, beef bourguignon, roast chicken or coq au vin, venison or rabbit stew.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2029 and beyond for enthusiasts.
