Wine:

Ranked as one of our Selection Committee Favorite, rated 96/100, the 2019 Red Bierzo La Vitoriana comes from north-facing terroirs, which grants it a unique freshness. The highly colored mencia grape gives it smooth aromas of black fruits, spices and pepper, with a slightly smoky finish. This is balanced by a rather athletic build on the palate, with precise notes of fruits. A wine that perfectly combines freshness and a persistent finish, to be savored with a duck breast on the grill or a well-matured piece of beef. A unique wine for such a price!

Vinification:

Hand harvested. 100% de-stemming. Fermentation in wooden vats for 60 to 90 days, then aged in barrels. No fining or filtration.

Color:

Very colorful, purplish ruby.

Nose:

Aromas of black fruits, spices, black pepper underlined by smoky notes.

Palate:

Fair, precise, tactile and slender, this wine brilliantly combines corpulence, balance, freshness and persistence.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Duck breast on the grill, entrecote or well matured beef from the butcher, whole pigeon with black pepper concassée, matured cheeses.
