Wine:

From a warm and sunny vintage that yielded ripe and concentrated grapes, beautifully sitting on a solid material that has had plenty of time to refine during its 10 years of cellar aging, the 2012 Red Ribera del Duero Vega Sicilia Unico is a total success! Its notes of black fruits, smoke and dried meat, with a touch of spice form a voluptuous aromatic. It is a baroque wine, powerful and refined at the same time, with a good aging potential but already intensely delicious. It occupies a special place in the hierarchy of the world's great wines. Rated 96/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested from 36 year old vines. Aged in 225 liter French and American oak barrels and 220 hectoliter tuns. Bottled in June 2018 after nearly 10 years of aging giving it one of the longest aging processes in the world.

Color:

Intense purple red, brilliant.

Nose:

Ripe and intoxicating with beautiful aromas of crushed black fruits underlined by a spicy touch. A delicate woody taste with a hint of mint.

Palate:

With a unique texture, as its name suggests, this wine is a concentrate of majestic flavors, offering us velvety tannins and delicate notes of balsamic. This balanced and harmonious power reveals a long and refined finish.

Temperature:

Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Fillet of wagyu beef cooked at low temperature on a crushed potato with black truffle, duck tajine with almonds, foie gras pie and duck breast.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2042 and more for enthusiasts.

This global vineyard legend derives its strength from a place and a family, fervently sought after by enthusiasts from all over the world.

These lands, bathed by the Duero and shaped by an austere climate and skilled hands, indeed forge one of the crown jewels of global viticulture: Vega Sicilia. The Alvarez family has created an icon, linking land, time, and man for eternity.

If these wines rank among the world's viticultural elite, nothing has been left to chance: the barrels are crafted by the estate using their unique methods; the aging processes are extremely lengthy, with some cuvées only reaching the market after waiting up to 10 years.
