Julien Desplans, long the right-hand man of Jean-Marie Guffens at Verget, has now stepped up to lead this renowned Burgundy négociant after several years of careful transition.

In keeping with Jean-Marie’s legacy, his Whites stand alongside Burgundy’s most prestigious estates, and wine lovers everywhere recognise the value of these wines.

With a sure hand and a restless curiosity, Desplans is now turning to Chardonnay on some of Chablis’s finest vineyards, right on the border of the premier crus. It feels like a natural return to the source, and the results are nothing short of thrilling.

Made from plots close to the 1ers Crus, the 2019 white Chablis Envers et Contre Tous keeps all its promises. Those of its terroir first, then of the expertise of the Maison Verget, led by Jean-Marie Guffens. Skilled winemaker, he offers here a pure and uncompromising reading of Chablis, that is to say a straight, fresh and spinning white, animated by a beautiful matter and a ripe fruit. A classy Chablis!
