“A Sociando that's ready to drink, bursting with flavour and indulgent like never before!”

Haut-Médoc
Château Sociando-Mallet
Red 2013
Our committee's review
Château Sociando-Mallet enjoys a worldwide reputation and delivers one of the best quality-to-price ratios in Bordeaux. Located just north of Saint-Estèphe, its geology mirrors that of Château Latour. When Jean Gautreau bought the estate in 1969, his vision set it firmly on the path to excellence.
The 2013 vintage in Bordeaux is often criticized, and not without reason, but its shadow should not keep us from the few genuine successes it produced—especially when the prices are so inviting. On re-tasting this wine, our Selection Committee was struck by its approachable, charming character, which is why we rushed to bring it to you.
Skillfully crafted, the 2013 Red Château Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc stands out for its finesse and supple texture. In this elegantly understated vintage, with softer tannins than usual, the wine displays remarkable grace, beautifully unfolding layers of ripe fruit aromas and subtle sweet spices. It perfectly embodies the signature style of the estate—a captivating blend of classic structure, precision, and undeniable charm. This is a bottle ready to be enjoyed now, with no need for further cellaring.
At this price, it would be a shame not to seize the opportunity.
