The Riesling Grand Cru Engelberg 2008 is pristine and tasty. On contact with the tongue, the vivacity and tautness of the vintage prickle the taste buds like a sour sweet . A mineral, chiselled frame on the palate. Here we have real rock water. The final salinity makes the mouth water and demands the very finest dishes in order to create great food-wine matches. This is a Riesling of style and grand cru dimension.

Organically grown, harvested at maturity, minimim intervention during vinification

A straw yellow to yellow colour, with bright highlights.

Wild aromas on the nose, after airing the exotic fruit and flower aromas express themselves to the full.

Small acidic fruit sits alongside nuances of a more animal type. On the palate, the wine is like a clenched fist, all density and weight, almost suffocated by the dominant minerality. Despite a compact expression, the length on the palate is impressive, with notes of green pepper.

Serve between 9 and 11°C

Food and wine pairing:

Choucroute, fish, crustaceans, ethnic cuisine, cheeses

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2023

"Organic" at heart, Jean-Marie Bechtold is an avid fan of soils and living things. As far as he is concerned, natural products have long replaced chemical fertilizers. He ensures that he understands the needs of his vineyard and in his quest for "the most authentic expression", he composes a suitable mode of viticulture for each parcel. The delicacy of his grands crus is a perfectly, clear reading of the terroirs and the spirit of the winemaker.
