Wine:
The 2018 Red Pessac-Léognan Château Pape-Clément is a total success! Rated 96+/100 by Parker, it imposes its power and amplitude within a phenomenally fresh framework. The luxurious aging, with 60% new oak, carries the wine in its length and leaves plenty of room for the fruit, delivering a pure aromatic profile with notes of blond tobacco, rose, tea, and macerated fruits. The perfectly integrated tannins and overall freshness give this wine incredible energy. It will, of course, need some aging. "Certainly one of the most beautiful Pape-Cléments in history," as stated by Bettane+Desseauve, 18/20.Vinification:
Hand harvesting, manual destemming, gravity-fed wooden vats of 30 to 70 hl. Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature: 8°C.Malolactic fermentation carried out in barrels (2/3 new and 1/3 of one wine), then aging for 18 months in French oak barrels (90%) and large oak casks (10%).
