Wine:

Château Roques Mauriac First Wine 2005 is a wine that resonates with the qualities of the vintage. It is muscular, ripe and energetic. It is now showing a fullness of expression.

Vinification:

Vineyard grown respecting sustainable farming principles; selection of the best parcels, with low yields (45 hl/ha).
Cold pre-fermentation maceration for 5 to 6 days (10°C); alcoholic fermentation at low temperature with frequent punching of the cap with no oxygen (24°C for the Merlots, 18 to 20 °C for the Cabernets). The vatting period lasts for 20 to 25 days. Blending and aging for 12 months, 50% in new barrels.

Color:

Deep ruby colour, clear and bright.

Nose:

Aromas of red fruit (strawberries) as well as some toasted notes characteristic of wood aging.

Palate:

Modern in style, the wine unfolds with candour offering nice volume and fine, silky tannins.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled entercôte steak, side of beef with mixed vegetables, roast leg of lamb in a rich sauce, boar fillet mignon in a rich sauce.

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2013
