Wine:

Thanks to a very meticulous selection of the grapes, the Sauternes 2011 delivers intense aromas of candied apricots, currants and undergrowth. On the palate, the balance between the sweetness of the sugar and the tension of the acidity shows a remarkable harmony that is reflected through the very long finish on the palate and the seductive richness.

Vinification:

Harvesting by hand, 16-18 months' ageing in 50% new barrels, 50% barrels used for 1 fill.

Color:

Intense golden yellow.

Nose:

Nose of citrus: orange, lemon, grapefruit, white flowers and a light touch of vanilla. Later followed by more exotic (pineapple) candied fruit and undergrowth.

Palate:

Unctuosity balanced by great freshness. Lovely, unshowy, richness with notes of ripe apricot, very long finish with hints of orange and a slight mineral touch.

Temperature:

Serve between 10-12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Peking duck with spices, roasted Bresse chicken, blue cheeses, citrus fruit desserts, fine-crust mango tart.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2045

The 1er Grand Cru Classé Château Suduiraut is one of the appellation’s most renowned wine estates. The careful attention to quality in the vineyards, combined with the complex gravel and limestone terroir, gives rise to wines with exceptional depth, finesse and aromatic expression. Often more powerful than its counterparts, Suduiraut is characterised by an exceptional complexity and elegance that continue to evolve over time. It is one of the rare crus, along with Yquem, which knows how to take advantage of the diversity of its soils in order to craft wines with incredible complexity and a rich, lush character. These wines develop with age to become nothing short of magical.
