Once again, this is one of our top picks of the vintage!
Tucked away on the limestone-clay plateau across 15.5 hectares, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot delivered a standout performance in 2024. With 78% Merlot saved from the season’s heavy rainfall—thanks to a hot, life-saving summer—the result is a finely crafted Red wine, open and expressive, with vibrant red fruit flavors and a subtle touch of spice.
The estate has taken a bold approach to aging, quite unconventional for Bordeaux: 55% in barrels, along with amphorae and large 20-hectoliter oak vats. This mix of vessels helps preserve the purity of the wine’s expression and highlights the identity of its terroir. The result? A generous, fleshy wine with impressive structure and depth—remarkably consistent for the vintage. The hallmark limestone acidity shines through on the finish, bringing freshness and classic balance.
Once again, the Bécot family has shown real vision. This vintage confirms the estate’s direction toward greater depth and finesse, especially in the texture of the tannins—helped in part by the replanting of Cabernet Franc using massal selection at the vineyard’s highest points.
This is absolutely one of the must-have wines of this year’s En-Primeur wines campaign, and it earned a 94/100 rating from Best Sommelier in the World Olivier Poussier.
