Côtes et Climats - Pierre Mayeul - Beaune 1er Cru - Sizies - Rouge - 2020
Country / Region: Burgundy
Name: AOP Beaune 1er cru
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Alcohol: 15 vol.
Capacity: 75 cl
Wine:The 2020 Red Beaune 1er Cru Les Sizies is a full-bodied and long-aging wine, unapologetically rich in flavor. Its fairly dense tannic structure remains juicy and fresh, very elegant, characterized by notes of black and red fruits, spices, and chocolate. The wine's solid mid-palate promises a long and favorable evolution, with still quite pronounced tannins that would benefit from decanting if you choose to drink it early. This is a fine example of a 1er Cru that stands out with distinction!
Vinification:Hand-harvested, totally de-stemmed. Aged in oak barrels, 20% of which are new, for 14 months.
Color:Bright red with good intensity.
Nose:Complex aromatics oscillating between black and red fruit aromas, followed by chocolate and spicy notes.
Palate:Full-bodied and delicious, with abundant notes of fruit, let yourself be charmed by this elegant, fresh and distinguished creation.
Temperature:Serve between 16 and 18°C.
Food and wine pairing:Roast rack of veal with chanterelles, poultry or guinea fowl with bacon and cabbage leaves, grilled and melting pork belly, sweetbreads and simple jus.
Cellar aging:From now until 2030.
Founded in 2016, Côtes et Climats Pierre Mayeul is dedicated to crafting Burgundies with a distinct identity, driven by a keen sense of excellence. Frédéric Hirault, Matthieu Bouchard, and Ludivine Griveau achieve this by selecting only the finest grapes, guided by their technical skill and in-depth knowledge of Burgundy's most exquisite terroirs.
Their formula may seem straightforward—strong identity, small volumes, and grand terroirs—but it's far from simple. This approach is complex and uncompromising, reflecting all of Ludivine Griveau's experience and intuition. She commits to this project with the same high standards she has always upheld.
