Wine:

From a parcel of young 30-year-old vines planted at the top of the hillside on white marl soils of the Corton hill that form an enclave in the realm of reds, the 2018 white Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont is a quintessential Chardonnay wine. It is a true terroir for white wines, with 1.40 hectares of vines that deliver full and graceful bottles that have everything to please: an ideal wine and a perfect illustration of what this grape variety gives in Burgundy. Straightforward, saline, and bright, it reconciles precision and purity without losing its crisp flavors of fruit, structure, and richness. It is a great white wine for the table, salty and sapid, to be followed over 5 to 10 years. Rated 93-94/100 by the Committee.
