Wine:

Made from 120-year-old vines planted at the beginning of the last century on a 70-acre parcel, the 2020 red Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Les Mazoyères is a rare wine. Vinified from whole grapes and aged in barrels, one-third of which are new, this grand vin de garde deserves to be waited for, to unfold all its finesse, elegance and nuanced aromas. One of Burgundy's myths!

Vinification:

Hand-picked on August 28, 2020 (fruit day). 100% whole grapes, not crushed and vatted by gravity. No yeasting or enzyming. Cold pre-fermentation maceration (12-15°C). Total maceration: 20 days in vats. One light pumping over per day until end of cuvaison. Pressing with a vertical press. Aged 16 months in barrels, 35% of which are new (origin of wood: Tronçais and Cîteaux forests). No fining, light filtration. Bottling on February 7, 2022 for magnums (fruit day) and February 8, 2022 for bottles (fruit day). Production limited to 2654 bottles and 50 magnums.
Mid-slope plot of 0.735 ha, planted in 1901/1902. Organic farming since 1998, Ecocert certification since 1999. Bio-dynamic agriculture since the 2001 campaign, without certification.
