Burgundy

Camille Giroud - Charmes-Chambertin - Rouge 2008

Characteristics

Country / Region: Burgundy

Vintage: 2008

Name: AOP Charmes-Chambertin

Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir

Alcohol: 13.5 vol.

Color: Red

Capacity: 75 cl

Wine:

With the 2008 vintage, the Charmes-Chambertin is the culmination of a tremendous series. It delivers itself with drive and disconcerting energy. Full, rich, intense and succulent on the palate. The final spice increases its endless length.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, sorted and totally de-stalked, traditional vinification, cold (12°C) maceration followed by 18 days fermentation in an open wooden vat, punching the cape, aging on the lees without racking for 14 months in oak casks of which 20% are new.

Color:

Light red colour.

Nose:

Aromas of peony, brambles, which then evolve into spicier notes.

Palate:

Wonderfully long lasting on the palate, this wine does however go more towards the light and carefree rather than the concentrated.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Bird and animal game, pigeon, deer, wild boar.

Cellar aging:

Enjoy up to and including 2020
