Wine:

Set just behind Mazis-Chambertin on a north-facing plot at the mouth of the Lavaux combe, the 2023 Red Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny delivers a wine of remarkable finesse and beautifully polished tannins. Its delicate, tea-like style rests on a pure, dense core, lifted by oak ageing that adds just the right touch of subtle toast and spice. Fresh, elegant, and effortlessly refined, this is a bottle that will reward a bit of patience in the cellar. Rated 94/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Area of 0.80 ha, planted in 1970, 1986, 1988, 1989. 100% destemmed, vinification in open stainless steel vats. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Bright ruby red.

Nose:

Beautiful scents of infused fruits.

Palate:

With great finesse and freshness, this wine is beautifully dense and pure, supported by well-managed oak, revealing a refined wine with superb tannins.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.
