Wine rated 92/100 by our committee!

Wine:

Grown on a cool terroir that extends from the Premier Cru Les Epenots, the 2023 Pommard La Chanière Red is a Pinot Noir of remarkable subtlety—Burgundy to its core. Its delicate aromas of morello cherry and wild raspberry flow into a juicy, refined palate with an elegant, almost weightless style. This isn’t about power or sheer concentration—it’s all about finesse and nuance. A wine tailor-made for purists who appreciate Pinot at its most graceful.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 days. Semi-carbonic maceration for 15 days with daily punching down and pumping over. Aged exclusively in oak barrels for 14 months (20% new barrels).

Color:

Bright red with beautiful intensity.

Nose:

The nose seduces with lovely delicate fruit, hints of sour cherry and raspberry, evoking freshness and finesse.

Palate:

The palate is extremely refined, light and subtle, supported by delicate, light-bodied fruit.

Temperature:

Serve at 14–16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Beef cheek in Pinot Noir, veal sweetbreads and seasonal mushrooms, roast veal, confit pork belly, grilled beef, mature farmhouse St Nectaire cheese.

Cellar aging:

From today until 2032, and even longer for enthusiasts.

Blessed with some of the finest plots in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Philippe Germain works quietly behind the scenes. Fame holds no appeal here—this craftsman even turns down requests from top restaurants to keep his wines reserved for loyal private clients and a lucky few insiders.

This exemplary—and slightly rebellious—estate produces cuvées in the shadows that rival Burgundy’s most celebrated names. And today, they’re opening their doors to us in a rare gesture.
