The 2020 red Volnay 1er Cru Clos du Verseuil Monopole is a magical cuvée, coming from 45 ares of seventy-year-old vines located in the center of the village and planted north-south. It’s one of the owner's favorite cuvées, cherished like a garden, offering beautiful notes of ripe fruit, light roasting, and smoke. Silky, fresh, and refined, this Volnay develops great charm and a lot of complexity. Rated 93+/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Harvested by hand. Plot of 45 ares. Vines 68 years old. Terroir: crushed limestone. Aged 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Game terrine, slow-braised civet, roast quail, pan-fried entrecôte, thick veal chop sautéed with sage.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035 and beyond for enthusiasts.
