Wine:

From a small 0.76-hectare parcel rooted in pure limestone soils, the 2023 Givry Premier Cru Petit Marole Red is a stunning showcase of Pinot Noir. The character of the terroir shines through in a structured, vibrant palate, where ripe black fruit aromas and delicate violet notes unfold gracefully. The aging — expertly done — brings depth without overshadowing the wine’s natural elegance. It’s a wine full of energy and finesse, with a long, lively finish. A bottle with real pedigree and aging potential — this one’s built to go the distance.

Vinification:

The grapes are hand-harvested and fully destemmed. After a cold soak, the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation and about a month of maceration to extract color and structure. It is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels — 70% of them new — which brings subtle complexity and a refined texture.

A further 5 months in stainless steel tanks allows the wine to settle and retain its freshness. A gentle Kieselguhr earth filtration ensures clarity before bottling, scheduled for February 25, 2025.

Color:

Bright red of good intensity.

Nose:

Aromas of ripe black fruit punctuated with notes of violet.

Palate:

Refined and pure, this cuvée showcases Pinot Noir at perfect ripeness, delivering a beautifully expressive wine. The palate is confidently structured yet fresh, with ripe black fruit and floral notes unfolding over a bold, elegant palate. The finish is long, lively, and full of energy — a true testament to the character of the grape and its terroir.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Artisanal charcuterie, grilled flank steak, pan-fried veal chop with jus, mature farmhouse Saint-Nectaire.

Cellar aging:

From today until 2031 and beyond for amateurs.

A standout estate in Givry with two stars from the RVF — France’s most respected wine magazine — Domaine François Lumpp has won over wine lovers with its finesse and elegance. These wines are impeccably crafted, aged with care, and deliver remarkable precision and structure, making them perfect for cellaring.

Vintage after vintage, the Lumpp family — now led by the new generation — continues to push for excellence, refining each cuvée with impressive precision. The use of oak barrels is particularly well-judged: 70% new barrels are used, but the integration is so seamless, it enhances the wine without overpowering it. For the Whites, the choice of 400-liter barrels helps maintain a lively, playful freshness.

These are among the finest wines from the Côte Chalonnaise, with beautifully defined aromas and flavors that speak of true craftsmanship.
