Wine:

The 2022 Valle di Mare Red, a Vin de France, is a pure expression of Carcajolu Neru—remarkably pure and aged in large foudres and 500-liter demi-muids. It opens with vivid fruit aromas of blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, it’s striking for its concentration, depth, and refined character. The fruit is vibrant and mouthwatering, supported by silky tannins and a freshness that lifts the entire profile. There’s great density and energy here, beautifully enhanced by its thoughtful aging and a long, saline finish. This is a wine built to evolve gracefully over a decade or more. Rated 95/100 by the French wine guide RVF.

Vinification:

Vines grown on granite arenas, irrigated with sea water since 2016. Harvested by gravity, destemmed and not crushed. Skin maceration for several weeks in stainless steel vats, alternating punching down and pumping over. Devatting and separation of the juices into barrels. Aged in large oak barrels and demi-muid barrels for 12 months. Blend in stainless steel vats and aged for 3 months. Racking and clarifying filtration before bottling. Aged in glass for at least 6 months.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Cellar aging:

From today until 2028, even more for enthusiasts.

A true icon at the pinnacle of Corsican wine, Domaine Comte Abbatucci—awarded 3 stars by the French wine guide RVF—is one of the island’s most revered names. Jean-Charles Abbatucci, a passionate ampelographer dedicated to preserving Corsican heritage, has created a conservatory of indigenous grape varieties and has made it his mission to craft exceptional Corsican wines that stay rooted in the island’s identity.

Farmed biodynamically for over twenty years, the estate enjoys an exemplary reputation. Its wines consistently rival the finest in France, showcasing stunning blends that always feature heirloom grape varieties. These wines benefit from partial aging in large oak vessels, bringing depth without overshadowing the fruit.

Pushing the boundaries of innovation, the estate has also developed a groundbreaking new viticultural method using seawater sprayed directly onto the vines. This pioneering approach has led to the creation of two standout wines: Valle di Mare and Monte Mare.
