Wine:

The 2023 Red Ministre Impérial, classified as a Vin de France, is crafted from a blend of Corsica’s indigenous grape varieties, delivering a wine of remarkable complexity and nuance. It opens with vibrant aromas of ripe, tangy red berries—redcurrant and blackcurrant—layered with subtle hints of wild herbs. On the palate, the structure is generous and finely textured, with a gentle influence from barrel aging that adds depth without overshadowing the wine’s natural character. A distinct mineral thread—signature of the estate—runs through the wine, supporting elegant tannins and a long, flavourful finish filled with shimmering notes of ripe fruit. A wine of real presence and finesse, perfect with slow-cooked lamb shoulder or a Provençal stew.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Destemmed, skin maceration in thermo-regulated truncated cone vats and fermentation for approximately 1 month with daily punching down and pumping over. Spontaneous fermentation in the vats.
Devatting and pressing of the marc, separation of the juices during racking and ageing in demi-muid barrels for 12 months. Racking and blending in stainless steel vats, ageing for 6 months before clarification filtration and bottling.

Biodynamic wine, certified.

Color:

Red with intense garnet highlights.

Awarded 3 stars by La Revue du Vin de France—France’s leading wine magazine—the Domaine Comte Abbatucci is one of Corsica’s most iconic estates. At the heart of the island’s winemaking revival, Jean-Charles Abbatucci, a passionate expert in vine varieties, has created a conservatory dedicated to preserving Corsican heritage grapes. His mission: to craft exceptional wines rooted deeply in the island’s traditions and identity.

For over twenty years, the estate has been farmed biodynamically, earning a stellar reputation across the French wine world. The wines consistently rank among the country’s finest, with the entire range standing out for its balance and authenticity. These are elegant blends built around heirloom grape varieties, often aged in large wooden vessels that gently enhance the wines with subtle notes of spice and texture without overpowering their character.
