Wine:

Dark and concentrated, the 2021 red Bierzo Mencia is a powerful, ultra-polished wine, with smoky, wild blackberry notes and a fresh overall impression. The palate confirms this full maturity, with delicate, concentrated juice and present tannins. We particularly appreciate the wine's digestible, uncluttered appearance, with no ostentatious ageing. To be enjoyed after 1/2 hour in the decanter with a red meat, beef, duck or lamb. Rated 94/100 by the Comité.

Vinification:

Hand harvested from vines located at an altitude of between 600 and 750 meters. Fermented in stainless steel vats.

Color:

Bright red with violet highlights.

Nose:

Rich and fruity, with aromas of wild blackberries and light smoky notes, all on a fresh texture.

Palate:

The concentrated, powerful flavors of this very ripe Mencia, with silky tannins, make this wine elegant and easy to digest. Decant half an hour before drinking.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Red meats, grilled, simmered. Pan-fried beef fillet with rosemary, low-temperature duck effiloché, lamb saddle confit.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028 and beyond for enthusiasts.

Luna Beberide was born under a lucky star. In 1998, Mariano Garcia, the oenologist at the legendary Vega Sicilia and family friend, vinified the first wines. They were soon elevated to the rank of icons, quickly conquering the world's highest ranks.

Everything here is skilfully orchestrated, from the respectful use of natural resources to the masterful aging of the grapes. The family's second generation, embodied by Alejandro Luna, is now at work, pursuing this eternal quest for excellence, favoring indigenous varieties and regional tradition.
