Wine:
Just released, the 2023 Savennières Les Vieux Clos White shows a luminous pale gold hue with striking intensity. The nose reveals earthy, root-driven aromas—hallmarks of the cru—lifted by delicate notes of white fruit. On the palate, the wine is energetic and finely structured, shaped by the cool vintage, which lends it a youthful austerity. A bottle to keep cellared a while longer, and ideally paired with fine fish or subtly spiced cuisine.Vinification:
Hand harvested, aged in oak barrels for 6 to 8 months, new wood limited to 5%, indigenous yeasts, no chaptalisation or re-yeasting.Vineyard certified organic and biodynamic since 1981.
Color:
Light golden brown.
Temperature:
Decant before serving at a temperature of between 10 and 12°C.Food and wine pairing:
Pikeperch fillet in white butter sauce, simply grilled sea bass, sole or turbot, fish mousseline, smoked fish platter, chicken in cider.Cellar aging:
From now until 2033
A leading figure in biodynamic viticulture, Nicolas Joly is a key personality of the Loire Valley, now joined by his daughter Virginie. At the height of their craft—and awarded one star by the Revue du Vin de France, a major French wine guide—they produce great White wines, built on richly textured matter with extraordinary aging potential.
An icon of global winegrowing, La Coulée de Serrant is widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest White wines. Each new vintage is a highly anticipated event for connoisseurs. Fully biodynamic for over 45 years, the estate produces a wine of unmatched complexity and mystery—one that truly reveals itself only after years of cellaring.
