Wine:

From 90-year-old vines of Clairette and Roussanne rooted in rolled pebbles, the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Terroir de Saint-Préfert White delivers a beautifully saline expression. Aged in large vessels with no new oak, the wine allows its fresh white fruit and apricot aromas to shine through. It’s a masterclass in balance—pure, precise, and elegant—offering a crystal-clear interpretation of the terroir. Rated 94–96/100 by the Selection Committee.

Vinification:

Vines aged between 80 and 90 years old in the Saint Préfert area, consisting of rounded pebbles, gravel, blue clay and sand. Vinification in glass globes and 12-hectolitre casks, aged for two vintages.

Serve between 10 and 12°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Risotto with shellfish, scrambled eggs with truffles, sea bream Provençal style, pan-fried foie gras with citrus fruits.

From today until 2032, and beyond for enthusiasts.

Since Isabel Ferrando took the reins in 2002, Domaine Saint-Préfert has become one of the most sought-after and acclaimed names in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Located in the southern part of the appellation, the estate embodies all the hallmarks of excellence: biodynamic farming, massal selection, meticulous vinification with native yeasts, and carefully managed ageing.

The vineyard itself spans nearly all of Châteauneuf’s geological profiles, and Isabel—now joined by her daughter Guillemette—brings incredible energy to her work. The result is red wines of remarkable freshness and elegance, and whites that are every bit as charming—arguably among the very best in the region.
