Wine:
A magnificent achievement, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes Red stands out in the vintage with a style that’s both subtle and full-bodied, radiating great elegance. The nose is refined and distinctive, marked by menthol and eucalyptus—classic Syrah and Mourvèdre notes—paired with fresh fruit aromas. The rich, meticulously crafted palate reveals hints of tapenade, dried herbs, black fruit, and spices, delivering a dense and layered experience framed by ripe, tightly knit tannins that promise excellent aging potential. A deeply moving wine best enjoyed with time. A Selection Committee Favourite, rated 96/100.Vinification:
Hand harvested with sorting in the vineyard. Vines planted 40% in 1920, 40% in 1965, 10% in 1976 and 10% in 1993 on 4 plots with different terroirs: rounded pebbles, sand, red clay covered with rounded pebbles and sandy limestone. 80% destemming, maceration for 28 days with daily manual punching down. Aged for 12 months, 3/4 in large barrels and 1/4 in demi-muids (600 liters).

A flagship estate of the Southern Rhône and rated 2 stars by the Guide RVF, Domaine de la Janasse is renowned for its exceptional consistency. The Sabon family nurtures it with passion, producing outstanding wines both in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône.
Here, excellence is the rule across every wine, thanks to meticulous winemaking, carefully tended vineyards, and an ideal patchwork of plots—all now farmed organically.
With perfectly ripe fruit every year, these wines are powerful yet finely textured, balancing great finesse with vibrant freshness. They are a favourite of Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World and a valued member of our Selection Committee.
