The 2021 red Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a magically charming wine like few others. Supported by delicate grenache grapes, it unfurls a delicate texture of juicy cherry, garrigue and other fruity aromas, with silky tannins. An enchantment far removed from the robust reds of the appellation, it opens the doors to a fascinating universe!

The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted in the vineyard and partially destemmed. Vinification, in concrete vats, lasts between 20 and 25 days, during which pumping-over and temperature control are carried out daily. After pressing, the wine is returned to the same vats for malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 12 to 18 months in 50hL tuns. All batches are then blended into a single cuvée.

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Duck terrine with pistachios, saddle of hare with thyme, pigeon stuffed with spices, grilled saddle of lamb, herb-crusted prime rib.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2033 and beyond for enthusiasts.

As the standard-bearer for the elegant and refined style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vieux Donjon is a discreet address highly coveted by wine enthusiasts. Awarded 3 stars in the RVF Guide, this estate cultivates the delicate art of expressing the essence of the south without excess, prioritizing restraint and mastery.

The finest terroirs in the appellation, planted with old vines - some Grenaches are over 100 years old! - are showcased in a delightful red that constitutes the majority of the production and a very rare white. Only 2 cuvées that narrate the complexity of this terroir and should serve as a model of refinement.
