Wine:

Pingus' little brother, the 2020 red Ribera del Duero Flor de Pingus, offers a concentration of the estate's expertise and takes on the genius of its elder brother. It is made from old vines from five carefully selected areas of the Pingus terroir, and the careful aging in French oak barrels for 18 months, with 20% new wood, propels the wine into a higher dimension. As always, freshness is present, despite a lot of substance, and finesse shines through; it is a powerful wine, perfectly balanced, with very ripe tannins. A sort of "mini Pingus" that will give you a glimpse of the dimension of the giant. Rated 94+/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Old vines over 80 years old. Vinification according to a non-interventionist logic. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new.

Vines driven according to the principles of biodynamics.

Color:

Intense ruby red with violet reflections.

Nose:

Intense aromas of black fruits underlined by herbaceous and floral notes and spicy touches.

Palate:

Elegant and powerful, this wine delivers a concentrated palate, a remarkable structure with a lot of freshness and velvety tannins.

Temperature:

Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Rack of lamb with Provence herbs, rib of beef with candied shallots, roasted duck breast and pan-fried seasonal vegetables.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2031

A brilliant oenologist, Peter Sisseck - nicknamed Pingus! - has revolutionized the Spanish wine industry. He created Dominio de Pingus in the 1990s, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, to bring forward all the potential of very old Tempranillo vines.

Organic and biodynamic agriculture, vines that are almost a century old, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, luxurious aging in oak barrels, prized terroirs, and endemic grape varieties... Everything contributes to the uniqueness of this iconic wine, which has been elevated to the rank of legend.

Having become one of the greatest wines in the world, the first Rioja rated 100/100 by Parker, Pingus has not ceased to act as a beacon, leading in its wake the whole revival of the Iberian Peninsula.
