Strongly marked by the clay and loamy soil, but also by salt storms, sea fog and ocean breezes, the Irish Single Malt Whisky SFO Hook Head Edition 1.1 reveals very nice spicy (nutmeg, white pepper...) and mineral notes that perfectly complement its malty and delicious character. On aeration, it also releases delicate aromas of citrus peel mixed with bread crumbs, nutmeg, white pepper, caramel accents, milk chocolate, salted popcorn, oak and earthy and herbal notes. The palate is marked by spicy, malty flavors of nutmeg and white pepper, punctuated by ginger cookie and citrus notes. A complex, racy, and unique Irish whisky.

Elaboration:

Unpeated. Distilled from barley grown and harvested in 2015 by Martin Foley on Hook Head in the far south of County Wexford.

Nose:

Mineral and gourmand, aromas of citrus peel mixed with scents of bread crumbs, nutmeg, white pepper, accents of caramel, milk chocolate, salted popcorn, oak and earthy and herbal notes.

Palate:

Complex and racy with malty and spicy flavors, nutmeg and white pepper, punctuated by notes of salted butter caramel, licorice, ginger cookie, spicy chocolate, citrus. Although dry, the finish leaves a very persistent oily and spicy character.

Food and wine pairing:

To be enjoyed dry, on ice or with a dash of fresh spring water.
