Wine:

Recognizable among all with its floral character and its extremely delicate infused notes of mint and verbena, the 2011 Champagne Grand Cru Comtes de Champagne is the most accomplished expression of the House of Taittinger's style. After ten years of aging, this pure chardonnay from Grands Crus de la Côte des Blancs is a concentrated and concise wine on the nose, of great coherence, with aromas of hazelnut, gingerbread, licorice and meringue, that combine harmoniously with notes of almond pastry. Lively and with a crystalline texture, this powerful, ample and mineral champagne seduces by its precision, and its flavors of candied fruits, sweet spices and its exceptional freshness. The chalky finish promises a beautiful saline and stony aging. Rated 95/100 Bettane+Desseauve and 94/100 Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested from the 5 villages of the Côte des Blancs classified as "Grands Crus": Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, aged for 4 months for 5% of the blend in new oak barrels, aged for 10 years and 18 meters underground in the Gallo-Roman chalk pits of the former Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims.

Color:

Straw yellow, bright with golden reflections on a delicate and creamy bubble.

Nose:

Delicious fragrances of gingerbread, licorice and meringue. With airing, more complex through aromas of white flesh fruits such as vine peach and tangerine peel combined harmoniously with notes of almond pastry.

Palate:

Lively and with a crystalline texture, this wine is powerful, rich and mineral with its iodine notes and its precision conferred by the chalky soil. This great champagne blends aromas of candied fruits, sweet spices (anise, coriander) with an exceptional freshness. This Comtes de Taittinger Blanc de Blancs 2011 is the most accomplished expression of the House of Taittinger's style.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

The ideal partner of a refined aperitif, it will also go very well with seafood, marinated and even smoked fish, or even a pan of scallops.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2030 and more for enthusiasts

Family-owned and independent, the Taittinger House embodies an unwavering classicism, formulating brilliant champagnes that are both fresh and creamy.  All the wines in the range express this unconditional, chiseled and dynamic framework to perfection.

In particular the Comtes de Champagne, the House's flagship wine. Indeed, no other champagne expresses with such vigor, complexity and amplitude the characteristics of this chalky terroir of the Côte des Blancs. The House of Taittinger offers one of the greatest champagnes of the region and shines a light on the chardonnay grape that transcends the borders of the appellation.
