Wine:

The 2017 Red Saint-Estèphe Château Ormes de Pez offers a lovely beginning to evolution with nicely spicy and chocolatey aromas. The structure remains supple and charming, far from the usual stoutness of these river wines, with a touch of cocoa and very fine balance. This is a great Saint-Estèphe of fine definition, ready to be enjoyed or aged for another five years. Rated 93/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, vinified in stainless steel tanks, aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 45% of which are new.

Red purple of beautiful intensity.

Nose:

A nicely spicy, chocolate nose.

Palate:

A charming palate with a touch of cocoa, very nice balance, perfect definition.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Rack of lamb with thyme, roasted quail with prunes and almonds, venison with Grand Veneur sauce.
