Wine:

Dense and deep, the 2017 Red Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a wine of anticipation. The terroir, located on the most clayey part of the Clos, in the Lieu-dit des 14 journaux, expresses itself admirably, delivering a wine that is both powerful and refined, with a rich, suave and delicate perfume, revolving around hints of wild raspberries and small red fruits in an exceptional and completely bewitching profile. The body is concentrated, ripe without excess, juicy, full-bodied, with great texture. This wine is precise, with all the attributes for a perfect ageing. It navigates between strength and nuance, maturity and freshness. What a wonderful vintage. Rated 19/20 by our Selection Committee and 18/20 by Bettane+Desseauve.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, vinification in open wooden vats, daily punching of the cap, malolactic fermentation carried out. Aged in oak barrels for 21 months.

Intense ruby red with purple hues.

Nose:

Fragrances of small red and black fruits ranging from wild raspberry to black currant.

Palate:

This wine is full-bodied and rich with a juicy and fragrant fruit. It is both powerful and refined, concentrated, ripe and fresh. Absolutely captivating!

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Hare stew à la royale, roasted chicken with chanterelle mushrooms, roasted venison with a pepper sauce.
