Aged in cherry wood (sakura) casks, a sacred and ancient essence in Japan, The Matsui Sakura Cask Single Malt whisky embodies Japanese culture. This rare and precious whisky is distilled by Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Province. Its light, slightly amber hue reveals fresh pear notes on the nose, with a touch of currants, flowers, fresh grass, and subtle, light wood, creating a very fresh and complex profile. The palate develops gradually, asserting its power with woody flavors reminiscent of pine and resin. The finish highlights the grain character, and the soft, refined nature of this exceptional whisky, which is reduced with natural spring water from Mount Daisen, enhancing its elegance.

Kurayoshi is the gem of Japan. Located in Tottori Prefecture, south of Honshu Island, this micro-distillery has been cultivating the delicate art of blending and refining for a century. Sake, shochu, and brandy have always been crafted in the purest Japanese tradition, thanks in part to the proximity of Mount Daisen and its pure waters.

In recent years, Shuzo Matsui has also developed a short range of whiskies under the Matsui name. These include classic blends like Kurayoshi Pure Malt, as well as a collection that pays homage to Japanese culture and its artists, with bottles illustrated by masters of Japanese painting such as Hokusai and Kikukawa Eizan.

Step into the fascinating world of this country through these unique whiskies, aged in Japanese oak barrels and prized for their rarity and exceptional complexity. An original interpretation of Anglo-Saxon spirits that will delight all lovers of purity and excellence.
