Wine:

The 2018 Red Sancerre from Domaine Paul Prieur et Fils is, in addition to being quite rare for the appellation, a total success in this generous, mature vintage. Concentrated and ripe, driven by expressive black fruit mixed with spicy notes, this fleshy wine retains intact freshness and exemplary balance. Ready to enjoy with poultry or roast veal with thyme

Vinification:

Hand harvested, long maceration with little extraction in open vats from 20 to 50% of the whole harvest, aged for 15 months, 50% in 228L barrels and 50% in wooden vats 26.5HL and 33HL. No sulphur is added, the wine is neither filtered nor fined.

Color:

Red of great intensity, brilliant, deep with purple-black reflections.

Nose:

A very concentrated and ripe pinot with spicy notes.

Palate:

The flavors in the palate confirm it, it is a pinot built for aging, that still remains fresh and harmonious.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Artisanal cold cuts, grilled red meat, veal cutlet Milanese style, braised beef tongue ...

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028

Today, more than ever, the Sancerre appellation is on a roll! The flagship of the Loire region, renowned for the geological richness and variety of its terroirs, ranging from white earth to caillottes and flint, the appellation is one of the most sought-after, famous, and envied worldwide, exporting two-thirds of its production.

The nuances of its soils are admirably suited to Sauvignon Blanc, and produce great Pinot Noirs (10% of volumes), which are serious alternatives to the great Burgundy today.
