Wine:

Fruity and delicate, the 2020 red Bierzo Petalos is a delight in this generous and sunny vintage. The Mencia grape variety shows itself here, with a jovial and juicy structure, with notes of black fruits, blackberry and blackcurrant, and surrounded by supple, powdery, perfectly integrated tannins. A perfectly accomplished wine, with very good aging potential, which could be served in two or three years with simmered meats. Rated 93/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand harvested and partial de-stemming of the grapes. Fermentation in wooden and stainless steel vats. Maceration for 43 days. Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels.

Color:

Dark and intense ruby-red.

Nose:

Deep and ripe with beautiful aromas of red and black fruits accented with graphite, plum and a touch of pepper.

Palate:

Rich and full-bodied, this wine leaves an impression with its harmonious structure, its silky and well-integrated tannins and its persistent and delicate finish.

Temperature:

Serve at 16 to 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Spicy beef effiloché, pork sauté with eggplant, roast veal with fresh herbs.
