Wine:

The 2020 IGT Toscana Masseto, in the resonance of its name, mirrors the terrain of its vineyard: a small hill rich in clays, home to 7 hectares of Merlot (with a mix of 6-7% Cabernet Franc), all meticulously hand-tended. This wine is magnificent in its concentration and fruit generosity, carried by ultra-refined tannins. Voluptuous and expressive, it charms from its early youth yet promises a very long aging potential. The introduction of Cabernet Franc this year adds subtle notes of bell pepper and graphite, supported by a fabulous density in this vintage. A robust, extremely impressive wine. Rated 96+/100 by Parker.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested in 15kg crates. The bunches are sorted and destemmed by hand. Each plot is vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in steel and wood vats, followed by a 21-28 day maceration at a temperature between 25 and 28°C. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in 100% new oak barrels, after which the batches are separated for 12 months of maturation. The wine is then blended and returned to the barrels for a further year, for a total of 24 months.

Color:

Intense ruby red with violet highlights.

Nose:

Subtle aromatic bouquet of red and black fruits, with persistent spicy notes that evolve and integrate over time.

Palate:

We find the power revealed by the aromas, a fine, silky, elegant juice, coated tannins, a hint of balsamic and incredible length.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled red meats, prime rib, rack of lamb, Italian cheeses.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2050
