Wine:

The 2019 Chinon L’Arcestrale Red showcases ripe, delicate fruit layered with intense graphite notes, followed by an abundance of dark fruit flavours. True to the character of Cabernet Franc, the palate is structured and full-bodied, with firm tannins that will soften beautifully with decanting or a few more years in the cellar—aging potential extends up to a decade. A vibrant, expressive take on Chinon. Rated 93/100 and a Selection Committee favorite.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, destemmed, macerated for 25 days in old oak casks. Aged for 18 months in barrels used for one to three wines.

Biodynamic wine, certified.

Dark red with purple highlights.

Nose:

Concentrated on intense graphite accents mixed with abundant notes of black fruit.

Oven-roasted turkey, roast pork with mushrooms.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035

Annick and Francis Jourdan set down roots in Chinon just a decade ago—and since then, their reputation has only grown, driven by talent, dedication, and a clear vision.

Their 17 hectares, stretching from the plains along the Vienne River to the slopes of Cravant, are farmed biodynamically and vinified with precision. Each wine is a focused, pure expression of its terroir—thoughtful, clean, and deeply rooted in place.
