Wine:

The 2021 La Mordorée Red from Côte-Rôtie is everything you want in a serious Northern Rhône Syrah. Sourced from old vines — over 60 years — planted on the edge of the Côte Blonde, it delivers real depth and precision. Fermented in barrels with a touch of new oak, it opens with intense aromas of dark berries, warm spices, and a lift of violet. The palate is broad and powerful, yet beautifully poised, with fine, seamless tannins that give the wine structure without any heaviness. A benchmark Côte-Rôtie, built for the long haul.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. 100% destemmed, vinification in concrete vats with daily pumping over. Aged for 14 to 18 months entirely in 225-litre barrels, with a proportion of new barrels.

Wine certified organic and biodynamic by Demeter.

Color:

Deep, bright red.

Nose:

Aromas of black fruits mixed with hints of spices and violet and touches of black olive.

Palate:

Structured and balanced, with beautifully ripe fruity notes, this wine is powerful, full-bodied and elegant, with smooth tannins. It is built for very long ageing.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C in a large glass.

Food and wine pairing:

Small game, duck breast with foie gras, herb-crusted beef rib, 7-hour slow-cooked leg of lamb.

From today until 2050, and beyond for enthusiasts.
