Wine:

The 2021 red Côte Rôtie La Rose Brune is a little gem of strength and elegance combined. Marked by violets and smoky bacon, with an aging process still present that will require a little time to refine and integrate, it offers a ripe, straightforward, and fresh wine, full-bodied with a fine quality of tannin. Be patient: a good year in the cellar will be necessary before you can enjoy it for a decade or more. Rated 93/100 by the Comité.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, 50% of the grapes are crushed. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aged in two stages: 12 months in 228-liter barrels of 1 and 2 wines and 1/3 new barrels; 6 months in demi-muids containing 5 wines.

Color:

Intense red with purplish highlights.

Nose:

Intensely perfumed, with aromas of violets underlined by hints of smoked bacon. The wine's ageing potential will be refined with time, but the overall impression is one of ripe, fresh fruit.

Palate:

Full-bodied and powerful, the attack is elegant and refined, the tannin supple and coated. This Côte-Rôtie delivers a delicate palate with promising aging potential.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Grilled fillet of beef with hearty gravy, duck aiguillettes a la plancha, quail stuffed with grapes.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2028 and beyond for enthusiasts.
